Philip (is looking for work)Hey #HomeAssistant nerds, can someone explain to me this recent release (https://www.home-assistant.io/blog/2026/04/01/release-20264/#infrared-becoming-a-first-class-citizen-of-home-assistant) which gets hyped about infrared?
How does this differ from the IR Blaster I have sitting on my shelf sending signals to my dumb heat pump?
Did they just build a protocol for companies to add in their own pre-configured IR codes?
I'm definitely missing something in my understanding of this setup.

Tim Ward ⭐🇪🇺🔶 #FBPE@Shobeck Yes, it works fine with #HomeAssistant. Here's one of my dashboards. But getting into Home Assistant can be rather a big deal if you're not using it already and you don't find that sort of thing fun.
@Shobeck They claim that local access will always work. Which is OK for one of our systems where we have Home Assistant, but not for the other where we don't and it would be a pain to install. (I've never used the app anyway. I don't piss around on a tiny phone screen when I can use a real computer with real display, keyboard and mouse.)

ThomasIch habe dort eine eufy Kamera und eine Tageslichtlampe aufgestellt. Die Lampe ist mit einer smarten Steckdose verbunden.
Die Kamera ist außerdem am #HomeAssistant eingebunden. Erkennt die Kamera etwas wird das an HA weitergegeben, welcher über die Steckdose die Lampe einschaltet. Wird zwei mit Minuten lang nichts mehr erkannt, geht das Licht wieder aus.
