Thanks to the man walking his dog who pointed out a shoal of fish in the Hogsmill river this morning. I've walked by the river many times but never spotted any fish before. And these were big - roughly 8 inches long - not the minnows I'd expect.

1/ The earthworks to divert a tributary of the Hogsmill river are almost complete.
2/ Two wider pools are separated by a narrow cut.
3/ A new footbridge crosses the diverted river near where it joins the Hogsmill river.
4/ Hogsmill river in winter.

1/ The works to create a wetland (to clean up one of the tributaries of the Hogsmill river) is more substantial than I had expected. I assume the concrete castings are supports for a foot bridge over the diverted river.
2/ A heron standing very still next to the river.
3/ Winter tree.

The nearest green space to where I live is alongside the Hogsmill river. When the weather is agreeable I like to get a bit of exercise by going for a walk there, and sometimes I take my camera. This picture from February 2020 shows that even in the London suburbs you can find a bit of peace and quiet.
