As expected, my local sewage overflow has been polluting the Hogsmill river since 13:45.

34.1 mm of rain so far this morning, and my local sewage overflows are pouring into the Hogsmill river. The river's flow rate won't be increasing for days (if at all) as it takes time for the rain to permeate the ground and reach the springs in Ewell.

Thanks to the man walking his dog who pointed out a shoal of fish in the Hogsmill river this morning. I've walked by the river many times but never spotted any fish before. And these were big - roughly 8 inches long - not the minnows I'd expect.

Thames Water's map of sewage discharges into rivers isn't a pretty sight this morning. My weather station reports 40 mm of rain overnight here in #Ewell (near #Epsom) which is far more than I've ever seen before.
