Can anyone point me towards a primary/secondary source how domestic staff/servants in London, UK, would have been hired around the turn of the century, or a bit later into the 1920s? There must have been employment agencies, would they have specialised by domestic roles versus other jobs like journalists and clerks? I'm also interested in how a journalist without connections would have gotten himself hired. But mainly staff: cooks, maids.
