New Year's Day. 1st visit to Highgate Cemetery. Beautifully gothic graves and statuary in what is almost a forest. Saw foxes, magpies, robins and wrens. The guided tour was superb. If you've never been, just go - it's a nature and history lovers delight.

Apart from Karl there are a lot of other fascinating gravestones in Highgate Cemetery. Some of them are cultural figures who have been important in my life like Malcolm Mclaren, Alan Sillitoe and Douglas Adams.

I have to admire pop artist Patrick Cauldfield whose last work was his own tomb featuring the epitaph "DEAD".
