I accept, understand and support a lot of what's moving and defining people, but there's also a very clear line where all of that ends.

If you take how people treat you and then apply the very same to how you treat other people based on characteristics, sexuality or other aspects, you cross said line.

Inclusion isn't about "being better", or "being different" inherently being a positive trait.

It's about diversity, support and respect; not you being special.

"Despite being led by a thrice-divorced chronic adulterer, the #MAGA movement is downright obsessed w/ heterosexual #marriage."

Smart #AmandaMarcotte column. I'd say the obsession is even more specific: Arnold Palmer; the (ugh the "the") post-menopausal woman; tampon Tim; #abortion; transphobia w/Trump saying children come home from school having undergone a sex change (real fear: not coming home b/c of a school shooting).

Sally Rooney’s Love Plot as Gimmick - Post45

The novel is, by definition, formally heteropessimist: gesturing towards queerness at the levels of narrative, style, and perspective while resolving upon heterosexual coupledom in the end. Introduction - Post45

In season 5, episode 2 of Sex and the City, Carrie meets with publishers who want to turn her eponymous column about sex and relationships into a book. All she has to do is write an introduction to set the tone. “Is it hopeful?” one of the peppy publishers asks as she sits across from

Any #attraction I feel to a cis man is characterized as a transgression I've committed against my "community" for which I should apologize and do penance by performing #heteropessimism and self-loathing and enduring passive-aggression, mockery, and victim-blaming. 3/3

I had an amazing chat with Samantha Pinson Wrisley about #feminism, #misogyny, #affect and #heteropessimism this morning. I am one part of The Heteropessimists podcast. https://www.theheteropessimists.com/ . The interview with Sam will be released soon, meantime I recommend her article "Feminist Theory and the Problem of Misogyny" https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/pdf/10.1177/14647001211039365
