
A ★★★½ review of Hell Is a City (1960)
My familiarity and love for noir is largely settled around the American flavor. I've seen a smattering of the genre from other countries, but that's still a hole in my viewing I need to fill. Hell Is a City is a bit snappier than I expect from my noir, but it's also a lot of fun. I shouldn't be surprised by that though; this is directed by Val Guest after all. The famed Hammer director adds energy and snap to this tale of a police inspector on the hunt for a ruthless escaped criminal. There's just enough of sauce in
