Theology with #Hawkling be like…

Catie: Daddy, are all God’s pets?
Me: [Uproarious laughter]
Catie: I just feel like… we’re God’s dolls or something.

Today I took #Hawkling for her first kite flying excursion on a beach near my new place & that was just about a perfect experience.
This morning I heard a woodpecker doing its thing in a nearby tree & called attention to it for the kids to hear & asked if they know what the sound is. Without skipping a beat, 7yo #Hawkling responded, “It’s a knocking-bird!” So that’s the official name now.
This sucks: #Hawkling had ears pierced for her 7th bday ~6 weeks ago & they were fine until a few days ago, & then overnight a scab grew over the stud & she has to have it removed. I’ve spent all morning dealing with this & at urgent care & she’s going to lose the piercing.
Catie informed me that she can “feel the snow tingling” when it’s on the way. When I told her that that must be a special power, she followed up with the comment, “Yeah, from my demon.”She offered no further explanation. #Hawkling
#Hawkling, playing school with Barbies:
Teacher: "Who is your favorite scientist?"
Student: "My favorite scientist is Marie Curie. She is the greatest scientist I ever knew."
😭😭😭
The first thing #Hawkling said to me this morning was that “Christmas is the most important holiday because it’s when Jesus was born” & I had to break it to her that some Christians would consider that statement to be heresy. But I told her I’m ok with a certain amount of heresy.
Today’s Lego Advent calendar creature is, as #Hawkling says, a “Tristopherous!”
