I read #HawkMountain by #ConnerHabib and I need someone to talk to about it.

I don't read novels often, but this book reminded me of what they can do. The story was dreadful. An emotional horror of intergenerational trauma, maladaptive coping strategies– the consequences of abuse on the childhood psyche.

It leaves me considering all the moments when light could have broken in, when tough love could have prevailed over violence. But sometimes wounds heal wrong, and sometimes we don't know it until pressed or strained in just the right way.
