Making your website work better for students outside the United States.
-mobile first, mobile friendly
-WHERE are you?
-make the English easily translateable
-info for parents
-don't hide the ball - be clear about what the costs are
-students want to see themselves, international student success stories
-talk to current students about what the website is like for them
-links to alumni
-word of mouth is the most powerful type of marketing for international students
-monitor the social media from other countries - yikes! that's something I need to check in on that
-YouTube! here's the mention of that - AH! hype up the undergraduate research experience. In their native languages
This #HashtagHigherEd panel is completely shattering my idea of what we can do to recruit students from outside the United States.
For MIIS work:
Set up what the place is like, you're going to get a great education, and then go off to do great things.
#HashtagHigherEd - this session is really a prompt to ask ask ask questions about the marketing work with the #Institute.
Four #HigherEducation #SocialMedia experts were asked about how they used #Facebook during #HashtagHigherEd
All four of us sat without speaking for a full 10 seconds of our precious 30 minute time slot.
The message was clear. Facebook's place in #HigherEd #SocialStrategy has changed.
Changed to being something that rarely enters our conversations over the past couple days. TikTok - all about it. Instagram, some mentions.
More of us are talking about YouTube Shorts than Facebook.
This is a bit strange to think about during this #HashtagHigherEd session.
These #MarComm leaders work with their teams to chart #ProfessionalDevelopment for the people they work with.
So where am I going in my own career path, which is not something I think about often. What's next for me in my job? Longer title? Moving up to a director role of some kind? What would that even look like at where I work? Ponder ponder ponder.
