Marcus JenkinsI love the idea of messing with a hang drum / handpan but, dang, they're spendy. And fragile.
I can't help feeling that at least some of the manufacture and maintenance could be automated. Analogous to Plex for guitar necks which does as good a job as a top notch luthier in less time and, potentially, lower cost.
Get a basic shape cut and pressed and let the machine go to work. Take out of machine to go into the automatic oven a few times.
