I also scavenged a bunch of velcro from the canopy tent, and it is pretty heavy duty (it used to hold the sides on the tent), so I used that for the tabs that hold the cover closed.
Because of the way the canopy tent was constructed, I ended up with more of the hook velcro than the hoop velcro, so the double-width velcro was the hook side.
I have come to dislike #handsewing hook-side velcro, as it constantly catches the thread.

I need to do something quick and easy, and to clear up the sewing room a bit: I'll just do this cap for which I've cut the fabric more than one year ago, should only require a couple hours.

The spouse hung the cockpit cover for his kayak on a tree branch. Somebody thought this was an invitation to snack on it. (Not Kona (a cat) this time!)
Unexpected side effect of having a puppy - my hand stitching has gotten much better!
Pup loves stealing and ragging stuffies so I get lots of practice putting them back together. My blanket stitch looks so uniform now!
