On #ThisDayInHistory in 1435, papal bull #SicutDudum was promulgated, forbidding enslavement of the #Guanche natives of the #CanaryIslands who had converted to Christianity. It did nothing to stop the #colonial process of #genocide that eliminated the #Guanches distinct identity.

En 1496 los Reyes Católicos recibieron en Almazán (Soria) a los 9 Reyes Guanches de Tenerife, que les guardaron fidelidad una vez conquistado el archipiélago canario por parte de la Corona Castellano Leonesa después de 94 años de batallas. Fue la isla que más resistencia ofreció.
