you are good with APIs or writing scripts? the code of our #greeninstances list could be optimized. how could our list run as energy efficient as possible. which programming language would be the most useful to achieve this? should java script be avoided? this is an open project, everybody can participate and it would be great if we develop further.

If you are not happy with your current #instance because it is not using #renewableenergy, it's possible to migrate your #mastodon account to another instance and backup your old profile without loosing a lot of stuff. (see link below) There are many #greeninstances in the #fediverse you could choose instead. (see our list)
Admins who create new instances might also consider building them as #green instances from the beginning.

With the sad news that KNZK was shutting down we thought it might be useful for people to have a refresher on the features that Mastodon has built in that make moving instances easy and painless. Backing up Your Data Data export If you are moving to a new instance the first thing you will want to do is to get a backup of all of your data. Thankfully this process is painless with the Data Export tab under the “Import and Export” page. Here you can download your followers list, your muted users list and your blocked users list.
