When I was a child, over half a century before, my father showed me how to use the record player and the stereo. And I got the permission to use it and to hear his records. There was one, I heared mostly, especially one piece I repeatet very often. There was no modern rock music, mostly classical music and this one:
Mahalia Jackson - Rockin' In Jerusalem
This voice made me love music and human voices. This voice was for me thunder and sound of angels.
Especially in this song are alternating slow, free, soft, introverted parts in artistic movements of the melody with accented, rhythmic "normal" gospel parts.
I loved the two sides of voice, the change between the styles and especially the slow parts, where I fused together with this voice. I didn't know her, but she was for me sometime my sister and sometime my mother, spending me comfort, when I was worried.
I hope, you love this music also:
