AI Trying Too Hard
One of my hobbies is throwing weird stuff at AI and laughing at the result. This is a collection of more of that. Today, we are laughing at Google’s AI trying far too hard. (Skip to that bit)
Why?
Recently, I made a post on Mastodon saying we should play with our AI overlords by using shapes and colours in places that are dramatically correct but semantically meaningless for said AI to be trained on.

That bit
So, I fed Google some questions that should be impossible to answer. This is what I got.
Can you catch purple feelings?
PHP’s powerful shape sorter is JavaScript
I asked Google to tell me about the shape sorter module for PHP. It confidently said, “Oh, you mean this JavaScript library? Sure…”
Is Google a mystic now?
I asked the patently observed question, “What does it mean to have puce and violet dreams?”
Joseph of the technicolour dreamcoat fame, Google AI is not.
That got me wondering. How would Google handle a variation of the famous dream of Pharaoh from that dreamcoat bible story?
Google had a hard time keeping the numbers straight because I said six cows and the story has seven, but, according to Google’s AI, if I have another dream like that, God is warning me that a long famine is due in six or so years.
How to format a hexagonal database
Perhaps we need to generate more material for Google to train its AI on for the subject of hexagonal architecture for databases?
Square ideas diagrammed
I asked Google for tips on diagramming a square idea. It tried.
Triangular headaches
I asked Google to tell me how to cure a triangle headache. It was a bit boring, but it tried really hard to come up with an answer.
I also asked for more specific advice for when the headache is blue in colour.
Conclusion
Boringly, Google’s AI is slightly better at identifying things that are not actually things. However, get creative, and it will give you some confidently incorrect answers.
