Welcome! You are invited to join a webinar: Introducing DataCite’s Global Access Program in Africa: What Is in It for the Continent. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the webinar.

DataCite is a leading global non-profit organization that provides persistent identifiers (PIDs) for research data and other research outputs. DataCite has introduced the Global Access Program (GAP) with the aim to improve equity, access to and adoption of persistent identifier (PID) infrastructure for communities in under-represented countries, including all African countries. African research is still not receiving the right visibility due to several factors, including a lack of appropriate repositories with trusted PIDs, inadequate infrastructure to project the outputs, poor metadata for visibility, technical gaps, low awareness about the importance of PIDs, and institutional buy-in. Through GAP, DataCite's dedicated resources will collaborate with the research community and stakeholders to promote Africa’s indigenous knowledge and contributions to research outputs. This webinar introduces GAP, and it is the first in a series of engagements to open up Africa’s research outputs for increased visibility through DataCite’s PID infrastructure. DataCite invites you to join this webinar, in which you will learn about: - What DataCite is about - DataCite's Global Access Program (GAP) for Africa - What we intend to do to promote research outputs in Africa The slides and recording will be shared afterwards through the DataCite Zenodo Community and YouTube Channel, respectively. Please complete the details below to register. Speakers * Gabi Mejias (Community & Program Manager, DataCite) * Bosun Obileye (Regional Engagement Specialist Africa, DataCite) * Harold Bowa (Business Development Officer, UbuntuNet Alliance) * Olayemi Oluwasoga (Open Access/Open Data Administrator, IITA)
