Nearby Device Scanning update prepares for Galaxy glasses support

While One UI 8.5 is already in the works, various apps have already received the One UI 8.5 compatibility update in preparation for the official release of the software, whose rollout should start after the release of the Galaxy S26 on March. Earlier, Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy XR headset for the futuristic user experience, but we’re now getting hints about another wearable making it to the device line.

The update to Nearby Device Scanning, version 11.1.22.8, suggests that it adds support for One UI 8.5, which is considered to be progress. Alongside that, this version adds support for the Galaxy smart glasses, which suggests that Samsung is preparing them to be paired with phones.

The upcoming smart glasses were reported that Samsung is going to launch them this year, but there is no clear schedule as to when. This will be their first smart glasses to be added to the growing Galaxy ecosystem, which has already grown with the addition of the Galaxy XR last year. When the glasses are nearby, the phone detects it and asks you whether to pair it or not.

If you are running the latest version of One UI, you can install this update. However, it’s recommended for One UI 8.5 users to update this application to ensure better experience.
