Samsung globally expands One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy A54!

The time has finally come for users outside Korea, with One UI 8.5 reaching absolute stability! When One UI 8.5 was under development for the Galaxy S25 series, the flagship Galaxy S26 was unveiled to people around the world, and Galaxy A57 and A37 came after, all running One UI 8.5.

Starting from today, we are so excited to announce that One UI 8.5’s availability is currently expanding for the Galaxy A54 users!

The expansion, however, didn’t happen for those who are already using the Galaxy A34.

Samsung announces a revamped Galaxy Health with new features!

The official Samsung Newsroom has today announced that the company is planning to roll out a revamped Galaxy Health with amazing new features on the way to your phone, starting from June 8th.

This update is promising, because it provides you with effortless daily health management by translating complex biometric data to simple, actionable guidance. Those new features, which will be explained briefly below, will transform your Galaxy Watch and turn it to an intelligent health partner with AI as the engine. Those features will be available in this year’s upcoming Galaxy Watch series, which is expected to be unveiled on July 22nd.

    Vitals

This feature analyzes five important bio-signals, which are:

    • heart rate
    • heart rate variability
    • respiratory rate
    • skin temperature
    • blood oxygen

Those key factors mentioned above are then compared against a baseline that indicates true resting. Any meaningful deviations from those baselines will result in an alert, which tells users that they need rest. Additionally, it can also tell users that they’re fighting an illness without causing alert fatigue.

    Heart Health Score

This metric, which is updated daily, takes the Vascular Load score and combines it with the body composition data, and gives you a unified score as an output. This output is then used to identify the user’s habit of user’s long-term well-being, which gives you an overall heart health.

    Daily Cardio Load

This feature analyzes your accumulated cardiovascular strain by combining daily load and maximum training capacity and gives you recommendations of optimal training targets and rest times.

This way, you can ensure that you can reach your workout goals more efficiently without running into burnout or injury risks.

    Fitness Index

Ensures exercise routines are working by analyzing metrics, such as:

    • Heart rate
    • VO2 max
    • Daily steps against your peers

The fitness index comprises of five key elements:

    • Body composition
    • Strength
    • Flexibility
    • Endurance
    • Cardio

When those are taken into account, it delivers tailored content and personalized goals so that you can make continuous, targeted improvements.

    Other improvements

In addition to the four above features that will make it to the upcoming Galaxy Watch series, Samsung Health has gone through a redesign that now organizes the layout into five core pillars:

    • Sleep
    • Activity
    • Nutrition
    • Mindfulness
    • Vitals

You can now easily access daily wellness tips along with the Energy Score.

Upgraded capabilities, such as the improved Antioxidant Index which now gives you a clearer roadmap of a nutritional intake, with trend charts and daily history logs, and AGEs Index that now works in the background to capture automatic overnight measurements.

Hearing Health also gives you personalized analytics by measuring the noise surrounding the Galaxy Watch. Those analytics give you recommendations to protect your ears, regardless of whether you’re in a loud, noisy place, such as festivals, or raising the music volume during the workout session.

The upcoming Galaxy Watch series will soon allow you to utilize those features to get more personalized health insights, and the upcoming Galaxy Health update, which is expected to roll out from June 8th, will give you those features on your phone.

List of supported devices for Quick Share and AirDrop support

Last November, Google started pushing an updated Quick Share that allowed you to share files with Apple devices that include AirDrop, including MacBooks, iPads, and iPhones. Now, several devices, including those of Samsung flagships, have earned this support in subsequent updates.

According to the official Android website, the following devices support sharing files from Quick Share to AirDrop and vice versa:

    • Samsung
      • Galaxy S26, S26+, S26 Ultra
      • Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, S25 Edge
      • Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra
      • Galaxy Z Flip7
      • Galaxy Z Fold7
      • Galaxy Z Flip6
      • Galaxy Z Fold6
      • Galaxy Z Fold6 (Special Edition)
      • Galaxy Z TriFold
    • Google

      • OPPO Find N6
    • Vivo
      • Vivo X300, X300 Pro, X300 Ultra
    • HONOR
      • HONOR Magic V6

That is only a handful of supported devices that support transferring files from and to Apple devices. This makes it easier for you to transfer images, music, and other files without having to rely on complex solutions, such as this one.

That being said, if your device is listed as one of the above supported devices, you can now use this feature seamlessly. Otherwise, you’ll have to rely on other methods to share files to Apple devices.

Interestingly, none of the Galaxy A devices have been supported yet, as of now, and there is no clear timeline as to when those devices will eventually be able to utilize this feature.

Also, the following devices will soon be able to utilize this feature:

    • Motorola razr fold 2026
    • OPPO Find X8 series
    • HONOR Magic8 Pro

If you have an eligible device, just open Quick Share on your Android device and AirDrop on an iPhone or any other Apple device.

Samsung’s 2022 flagships have reached four generations of promised OS upgrades

Samsung released the Galaxy S22 series and the Galaxy Tab S8 together during the Galaxy Unpacked 2022 event, while the Galaxy Z Fold/Flip4 foldables were released later. The most striking change that was announced during the event was that Samsung would start providing longer periods of software updates, with 4 generations of OS upgrades and 5 years of security updates, which was a promising change. The Galaxy S24, two years later, then extended this promise to span 7 generations of OS upgrades and 7 years of security upgrades for longevity.

It has been confirmed that the flagship and middle-ranger Galaxy devices that were released in 2022, such as the Galaxy S22, Z Fold/Flip4, Tab S8, and A33/A53, won’t get the One UI 8.5 update as Samsung re-evaluated plans for this version of One UI and eligible devices. Therefore, we can now say that the flagship Galaxy devices have reached mainstream support EOL, with about 9 months remaining for future security updates based on One UI 8.0.

The above devices were running One UI 4.1, with the exception of the Galaxy Z Fold/Flip4 that ran One UI 4.1.1 when it was revealed on August 2022. Since then, they have been provided with the following One UI versions (approximate dates due to regional differences):

This marks a huge generational leap between what we had in the past, which was One UI 4.1 (based on Android 12) and what we have now, which is One UI 8.0 (Android 16). According to the promise made by Samsung when unveiling those flagships, the 2022 flagships have reached 4 generations of OS upgrades, with no further updates other than the security updates being planned for those devices. Users can guarantee continued security upgrades until around 2027, when security updates will stop completely.

We got our hands on to all One UI versions that were released for the Galaxy Tab S8, and we’d like to offer you some blast from the past that was from when we had the device on June 2022, 4 months after the initial release (please note that they were showcased from the Galaxy Tab S8):

We did not have a chance to showcase One UI 5.0, 5.1, 5.1.1, 6.0, and 6.1 properly due to lack of resources at the time, but we’re glad that we have shown you some of the journey, especially in late stages. From the introduction of the Taskbar that added extra productivity to the Galaxy Tab S8 users to a complete redesign of the UI that started from One UI 7.0 and an adaptive clock design that was introduced in One UI 8.0, the 2022 flagships have seen a very interesting journey of One UI that went through several improvements, with One UI 7.0 as the most interesting point.

As of today, the May 2026 security update has been expanded to a few more Galaxy users who are still using the 2022 flagships. This was done to keep those devices more secure.

The 4-generation journey for the 2022 flagships was very interesting, but the introduction of 7 years of security updates and 7 generations of OS upgrades will make it even more interesting for those who are using 2024 flagships and later. Similarly, the 6-year security updates and 6-generation OS upgrades reach select Galaxy A devices, including the A37 and the A57, which presents a similar interesting journey moving forward.

As a reminder, to update your Galaxy, follow these steps:

  • Open Settings, and navigate to System Update
  • Tap on Check for Updates
  • Press Download and Install
  • Wait until the download and the installation is complete, then press Reboot Now
  • Wait until the phone reboots successfully
  • Make sure that you’re connected to a stable and fast Wi-Fi network to avoid high mobile data fees. Never interrupt the update in any way, or problems could occur later. Make sure that you apply all available updates once you update your phone for maximum stability. An update might take 10 to 20 minutes to apply, depending on the device and the type of the update being applied.

If you’re seeing “Your software is up to date,” this means that the update hasn’t reached your device yet. Keep checking for updates, as Samsung rolls it out gradually to all devices from country to country, usually starting from Korea.

Stay tuned for the One UI 8.5 showcase on the Galaxy A57, coming soon!
