A Jacques #Tati satirical #comedy, “Playtime” is famous for the enormous set that the director used to portray a technological, chaotic Paris. In her Letterboxd interview, #Gerwig called the film “Incredible, amazing” and named it as an influence on the production design in “Barbie. “Jacques Tati is the king of the slow joke. The way those #movies unfold are just so perfect,” Gerwig said. “I always thought of Mattel as existing slightly in Jacques Tati’s world.”

The most successful film of the summer, Greta #Gerwig’s #Barbie (2023), invites philosophical reflection on a number of #feminist-aesthetic issues. Aesthetic Investigations is inviting authors to submit texts (1500 words max.) that analyse the film’s feminist #aesthetics for our Fresh section.
