#Geometries: Schlafen

Sleep is one of the great pleasures of life: the one moment we surrender, safely, relax our body, release our pains, and if we sleep alongside a loved companion, the prelude to, or conclusion of, other pleasures. For us it is a ritual: I am ahead of you, our clocks being slightly out of perfect synch, and when you lie down, I may already be dreaming.

#Geometries: Essen, or gastronomy as an erotic art

One of our early shared erotic experiences was that of cooking together: the kitchen as a wonderful space for titillating the buds and other parts of our complex mammal’s nervous systems. In truth, we enjoyed cooking together before we determined the geometry of our other encounters. I have described our enjoyment of a simple Indian dish earlier. The diversity of choices, what precedes, what follows, what to drink…

#Geometries: Lieben

nascent love like - the new moon turns its face away  Beginnings glow, and often fail to spark much longer. When we met we knew a few things, that experience was not measured in promiscuity, that love is for most of us a mirage, that looks and bodies change - over time - and “bien fol qui s’y fie”, as le bon Roi Henri reputedly said…

#Geometries: Trinken

It is a threat, and a pleasure, perhaps the most pernicious risk to mankind since the Black Death… Yet, how could we give up those marvels of nature, human skills and poetic evocations? Just think: from the Old World to the New, Pino Grigio, Montbasillac, Saint-Emilion, Burgundy, Champagne, the marvellous Australians, the North-Californians, the Cahors, the sunshine from South-Africa, the smiling Italians, the harsh Spanish, without forgetting the…

#Geometries: Thaw

The freezing fog lifted an hour ago, as the skies got all at once brighter, surrounding the snow with sharp reflections. The garden is again in colour, emerging from the black and white dyes of the last few days. Small birds have reappeared, magpies perch melancholically on tree tops and high flying gulls cross over the landscape, aiming for the coast.

#Geometries: L’Homme Bleu

L’ homme bleu Captain Le Guen was a Muslim, a faith he had inherited from his mother, who, as a young child, had been rescued by the Franj from her burning village in the Aurès, during that war. He had been born in Qimper in Brittany, where Le Guen père, an officer in the Navy, had wanted to respect his wife’s wishes to bring up the boy in the faith of the Prophet.

I always find the colors of this building compelling... and a bit depressing.

they sometimes put me in mind of a 1960s suburban US public school building... but of course this building is taller and urban and industrial
