I "watched" the end of night's game vs the #Dbacks via #ESPN's #GameCast following another great start by Verlander, who threw 7 shutout innings giving up only 3 hits & 2 BBs with 3Ks on 107/67 pitches/strikes thrown but who again failed to get the win.

The only problem was that the Dbacks starter Plaat threw NINE shutout innings giving up only 1 hit & 1 BB with 7Ks on only 97/65 pitches/strikes thrown.

It was a wonder that the Giants were finally able to get to the Dbacks' reliever Curtis, who had previously thrown 6.1 shutout innings in his last 5 appearances, for 5 runs based on the kind of hitting we know the Giants are capable of but so often fail to deliver.

A passed ball to Chapman, a walk to Eldridge (Lee sub to run), a single by Encarnacion, a single by Bailey, a double by Koss, sac fly by McCray & a single by Devers (interspersed with Ks by Gilbert & Adames) were what led to the 5 runs.

Peguero got the win after giving up a run on a grounder, sac fly & K.

Giants win 5-1. 😊

#NBC #BayAreaSports has apparently plugged the steaming gap & no longer allow me access to the Giants games via their website or app for free w/o paying an outrageous fee just to watch the games on #Comcast. 🤷‍♂️

So, I'm limited to "watching" the games now via #ESPN #Gamecast or just by reading the box scores.

In any event, I certainly didn't miss anything today in the Giants 0-4 loss to the #BlueJays to start the 2nd half of the season.

Verlander started the game but lasted only 2.2 innings after giving up 9 hits, 2 BBS & 4 runs vs 4K based on just 66 pitches thrown.

On the other hand, the Giants were shutout despite getting 11 hits (& no walks) but left 9 runners on base & were 0-9 with RISP.

So, it wasn't as though the Giants didn't have a chance to score. They just didn't. Oh well . . . 🤷‍♂️
