It is always a pleasure to see our Ursine friends. In this case un Oso Negro on our Silver Run Rd./trail run today behind town. 1850-2250m then back. Sundance and Otter were nice/quiet, when I called out a greeting it rolled off to the side ❤️. Cool NW flow pattern, just as we finished RW+ mixed w ❄️ and strong winds, got out just in time. It's all fun and games on our high plateaus 3200-3905m, until upper troughs come thru. Even weak ones like today. Could only do short 1 hr hikes 3050-3300m Beartooth Plateau in punishing 60-100kph W winds, 0-3C face-scouring ❄️. Still, walk in the park compared to our squall line ordeal last 21June when 160kph gusts blasted in, ⚡️️ too and face-shredding hail. That is why tree-line here is 3000-3150m. Drying out fast along the Beartooth Front. Dry cold front yest., very windy but at least it's cooler 👍🏽. Most all snow is gone from ski area, so had to rely on Willow and Cole crks. for cooling on our run there. 2280m start, up to 2550mm then back. Mix narrow access roads and steep single track biking trails. Nice colors on grassy slopes. Hope we get moisture tomorrow/Wed. 10-13C w stiff E breeze. We did have a generous 20-30mm rain Sat. from 2 TRWs, and are still in cool pattern. Fresh and very nice for Nichols Crk. trail run from ski area base 2240m down to 2050m, then back, w detour up to viewpoint. N-E facing, all of route so cool/shady. Lucked out, no ⚡️️ just few sprinkles. 14C lite breeze. We still are much drier than avg. last 2 months Beartooth Front, but moisture at times at least next 10 days w no extreme heat yet. #climate #running #dogs #montana #gye #mountains

So much less ❄️ than last year, easy to get around. Not much mud either, drying out fast. Hope our cooler spell this weekend pans out. Wildflowers full swing S-facing slopes lower half. Able make it round the corner 2740m on Hellroaring Rd. that was drifted over 3 weeks ago. On our run 2300m to 2800m then back. Turned around where Sundance and I had only ever close brown bear encounter here 03JUL2021. Drifts further up. He behaved admirably at 16 months of age and got raw steak for dinner that evening 👍🏽. No bear today but little lake nearby was perfect for them cool off in. Warm 21C at start lite SW wind. Drying out fast. #climate #running #dogs #montana #gye #mountains
