A stamp commemorates Giuliani, an Italian excellence.
AGI - A story of Italy began in 1889 at the Antica Farmacia del Lazzaretto in Milan, entering the Italian philatelic scene. The Ministry of Companies and Made in Italy has dedicated a regular postage stamp belonging to the thematic series “The Excellence of the Production System and Made in Italy” to Giuliani, recognizing the company’s contribution to the country’s pharmaceutical, industrial, and entrepreneurial history. The company explains in a note that the stamp “celebrates not only a historical brand, but a family business model that was able to transform a pharmaceutical laboratory into an international healthcare industrial platform, based on research, quality, therapeutic specialization, direct brand management, and global market development.”
From the formula of Giuliani Medicinal Bitter, born at the Antica Farmacia del Lazzaretto, to the current group active in gastroenterology, dermatology, trichology, gynecology, and personal health, Giuliani represents an emblematic Italian case of entrepreneurial continuity capable of combining identity, industrial vision, and innovation. “This stamp is a cause for great pride for us because it recognizes not only a business history of over 130 years, but also Giuliani’s ability to remain faithful to its identity, transforming it into a contemporary industrial project. Our roots are in Italian pharmaceutical tradition, but our gaze is turned to the future: research, innovation, quality, and international growth are the principles that guide our family and the company,” comments Giammaria Giuliani, the reference shareholder of the Group together with his brother Mario Germano Giuliani.
The Origins and Development
Founded in Milan in 1889 by Dr. Germano Giuliani, a pharmacist and chemist, the company has spanned over a century of Italian history, evolving from a pharmacy-laboratory to a structured pharmaceutical reality. Throughout the 20th century, Giuliani consolidated its industrial profile, developing scientific, production, regulatory, and commercial skills, ultimately building a business model that integrates research, product development, the valorization of proprietary brands, medical-scientific information, pharmacy channel safeguarding, and progressive internationalization.
Recent Acquisitions
As the note further explains, Giuliani has accelerated its growth path in recent years through an industrial plan based on the aggregation of complementary skills. The entry of Nathura in 2021 strengthened the nutraceutical and gastrointestinal area; the acquisition of Biogena in 2023 enhanced the dermatology sector; the operation of Laboratoires Bailleul in 2025 reinforced the company’s position in areas of greatest therapeutic interest and, above all, brought a pan-European platform with branches in various countries, significantly expanding the Group’s international presence. This growth path will enable the Group to achieve a turnover of approximately 250 million euros in 2026.
The Industrial Strategy
“These aggregations – adds Giammaria Giuliani – represent a key turning point in Giuliani’s evolution: from a historic pharmaceutical company to an integrated healthcare group, with a more and more solid presence in specialized therapeutic areas. Our strategy is to build critical mass in the segments in which we operate, to value assets with a high scientific content, and to integrate research, medico-scientific marketing, and commercial development skills. We want to further strengthen our relationships with doctors, pharmacists, patients and consumers, leveraging recognized brands, distinctive competencies, and a continuously growing international network.”
The Role of the Family
In this journey, the role of the family remains central: Giammaria Giuliani and Mario Germano Giuliani, representing the fourth generation, interpret this continuity as an entrepreneurial and cultural responsibility, as shareholders and custodians of a rare entrepreneurial history. “Seeing Giuliani represented on an Italian State stamp is a recognition that belongs to all the generations of the family who contributed to building the company, as well as to those who today carry forward its development. It is also a stimulus to continue to grow Giuliani as an increasingly competitive Italian group in international markets,” concludes Giammaria Giuliani.
