This is something that really burns me up about the city council and bruce harrell. Friend and colleague and I were talking this morning about how short shrift humanities and arts get among people with more "important" careers. When they really need the kind of thinking, for example, language arts provides, their faces numb and use words that they've defined for themselves but don't understand that others may not define the same way.

During their re-election campaign in 2021, the Liberal government pledged to permanently increase funding for the Canada Music Fund (CMF) to $50M. A crucial investment tool for local artists and Canadian-owned music companies. The CMF is also the source of 64% of FACTOR’s program budget. Through this investment, #FACTOR has been able to support 6,500 artists in just the last 5 years.

I think the thing that fascinates me as I delve more into various areas of art, whether it being film, tv, video games, or theatre... is how pretty much everything we do in these visual arts, is finding the cheapest way to simulate real life, and finding low-cost methods to cover the mistakes that would give things away. Last performance of Natyloka School of Indian Dance in Ōtepoti tonight. The house is full of families come to see their loved ones perform and the dance community.

Swaroopa has done so inexpressibly much for dance here which has also rippled through the South Asian community but she's leaving to go where there are more opportunities for her work.

Don't let anyone persuade you the arts have enough funding or that they should just be more businesslike.
