I really don't know how to feel about BEMANI games (modern stuff like current IIDX versions and Sound Voltex, in particular) in the 2020s because, well, Konami
When I was in Japan two months ago, I only put one credit into a Konami rhythm game, Polaris Chord.
Mostly because I'm a Performai fanboy anyway and stuck to Chunithm and maimai as a result and also have grown tired of bemani games independent of the whole Konami controversy. I was playing IIDX for 10 or so years and then gave up because of the SP 6-dan wall and SDVX's learning curve with the knobs is insurmountable for me.
But also playing Bemani games through non-piracy/bootleg means feels a bit like buying Hogwarts Legacy.
