this might totally be a stretch, but stay with me. at the end of the labryinth, you come across the Great Knife. James has to drag it forward to get through a hallway of tentacles. it reminds me of Christian mythology, specifically of stories of Christ dragging his cross that he's doomed to be executed on for the sins of mankind. its a popular saying within Christian circles to "take up your own cross," meaning that you bear the weight of your own sins and you need to repent. James is the penitant seeking punishment.

So, apparently the Silent Hill 2 Remake has been given to reviewers and they are claiming it to be as faithful as the Resident Evil remakes, which excites me. This will be a huge boon to Bloober Team's reputation and softens our disappointment in Konami a little bit. Konami still sucks for the most part, but they made a good decision choosing Bloober Team to do the remake.
Can't wait to watch a full playthrough.
