A story from a few yrs ago re: the now in effect #FreedomToWalk Act in CA.

Walking to Royce Hall on UCLA campus at the worm meeting. Red light on road in middle of campus. No cars anywhere. I cross (of course). Cop hiding behind tree nabs me.

'Do you know why I've called you over?'
'No' (meanwhile #worm peeps are walking by smirking)
'You were jaywalking'
'What's that? I'm from Boston - never heard of it' (truly)

Got a $190 ticket. My #worm peeps remind me of this often πŸ˜‚ but no longer!
