"Sasha’s health is quickly deteriorating in prison: she has chronic conditions, including a congenital heart defect, bipolar disorder and coeliac disease. We all remember the Sergei Magnitsky case. He was a tax lawyer turned anti-corruption campaigner who died in a Russian prison because he was denied proper medical treatment. I’m not ready for Sasha to become the next Magnitsky. Enough martyrs."

Just like Pussy Riot, Sasha Skochilenko has incurred Putin’s wrath. But we won’t let him win

The artist has been jailed for speaking out against the Ukraine war. When Russia is free again, we will owe her a great debt, says activist Nadya Tolokonnikova

Russian artist Aleksandra “Sasha” Skochilenko, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for replacing price tags with anti-war messages in a supermarket.

“The Russian army bombed an art school in Mariupol. Around 400 people were hiding inside,” read one of the 5 altered price tags.

Artists at Risk (AR) decries the extremely unjust sentence and stands in solidarity with Aleksandra Skochilenko.
