The problem I see is that allegiance to a label can lead to self-limiting beliefs. As the article mentions: "You try it, you like it, you become it." Tell someone you're a nudist and they'll expect you to fit a certain image, pattern of behavior, and outlook (which may be different from how you see yourself using that same label). Switch to "naturist" and expectations change, even though you, yourself, are the same person.
The authors sum up the situation well in the final paragraph:
"In the end, it’s your choice. If you want to call yourself a naturist, nudist, or something else, or nothing at all. For some people, sticking to a certain term gives them a sense of belonging. And that is perfectly fine. But because of our experiences, the different terms have mostly lost their meaning. We don’t want to call ourselves 'nothing', because that feels so empty. Most likely, we’re just a mix of everything."
Each person need to live as they see fit. I prefer to live without labels just as I prefer to live without clothes.
