During #PontiacsWar, on #ThisDayInHistory in 1763, some #Chippewa/#Ojibwe tricked the British garrison at #FortMichilimackinac using the oldest team sport in North America, #lacrosse. They played and chased their ball into the fort, then attacked, killing most of the inhabitants.

#FortMichilimackinac (pictured here) was one of twelve British-occupied forts seized by Native Tribes after the #FrenchandIndianWar. The story is a reminder of how lacrosse was and is still played to assert Native sovereignty and freedom.
