The top one is clearly the sleeve ferrule. The bottom is the internal (spigot) ferrule. The middle one resembles an internal ferrule, but it’s actually a sleeve ferrule 🤔

Should I called it a “false internal ferrule”, like naming in biology? I like this rod, it deserves a more respectful name 😉

It’s been a week since I got this new fly rod. Now I know more about my new favorite 😊

Dry dropper, Rio Gold WF3F.
Single dries, Rio Lightline DT3F.
SA GPX WF3F - not so good with this rod for my usual applications.
Rio Gold would be most versatile.

In a few months, this rod would become an extension of my arm 😉

Over the past few months, I've built a reel-less split-bamboo fly rod from scratch (no kit here, just a bamboo stick and a ton of effort). Last night, I coated the finished bamboo rod in epoxy and added the eyelets, capping off the project. Today, I hit the local pond to see how far my handmade rod could toss a fly, and I walked away with a nice little rainbow. Mission accomplished, and dinner was served all at the same time.

Great 😁 I like those alphabet/number codes rather than something like “Centric” the fly rod industries started using. It is easier to follow the lineage and rod development 🧐 BTW, my favorite is GS 884-4, and it still got the “G” code 😉
