Greg Fox 🇨🇦Back in time, Flickr offered oodles of space and their App auto backed up my iPhone pictures there. A couple acquisitions later and I started receiving emails saying I was over quota and if I didn’t do anything about it my pictures would be deleted. The App did not include an easy way to delete a bunch of pictures (several thousand), so I kept ignoring the emails. Until I had enough. I deleted my account, which was shockingly easy in comparison. #flikr #goodbye
K Lars LohnCompanies like StableDiffusion & Midjourney have purloined my husband's photography portfolio from Flikr via the LAION-5B database. Flikr doesn't seem to think this is a problem.
I think if Flikr does not take action, either technological or legal, to protect the intellectual property of their users by July 1, 2023, then I think paying professional photographers should stage a mass exodus. They'll only take notice if their revenue is at risk.
