Agi: Incassa un milione con certificati di malattia falsi

AGI - È stato arrestato nella regione della Loira Atlantica un venticinquenne, senza laurea in medicina, che avrebbe ricavato quasi un milione di euro dalla vendita online di oltre 44.000 certificati di malattia falsi. Finito in manette alla fine del mese scorso, il giovane è stato formalmente incriminato a Parigi all'inizio di aprile e posto in custodia cautelare nel carcere di Fleury-Mérogis.
L'inchiesta, racconta Le Parisien, era partita all'inizio dello scorso anno, quando la sezione di sanità pubblica della procura di Parigi ricevette da procure regionali diverse comunicazioni che segnalavano tutte lo stesso fenomeno: certificati di malattia ottenuti tramite un sito web che utilizzava l'identità di un medico inesistente. L'indagine, affidata lo scorso all'Unità per i crimini informatici della Polizia giudiziaria, ha permesso di ricostruire rapidamente la frode: per 21 euro a transazione, qualsiasi utente di internet poteva ottenere, in pochi clic, un certificato di malattia valido, o almeno apparentemente tale.
I dettagli dell'attività illecita e i guadagni
Il sospettato avrebbe guadagnato fino a 49.000 euro al mese da questa attività illecita, con clienti sparsi su tutto il territorio nazionale. Identificare il venticinquenne è stato facile perché "non aveva messo in atto alcuna manovra per occultarsi efficacemente", ha indicato una fonte vicina all'indagine secondo la quale il sospettato, inoltre, denunciava alle autorità altri truffatori che offrivano servizi simili al fine di eliminare i rivali dal mercato.
Le accuse formali e l'incriminazione
Il giovane ha confessato dopo l'arresto e, lo scorso 3 aprile, è stato formalmente incriminato a Parigi per esercizio abusivo della professione medica, frode, falsificazione e utilizzo di documenti falsi, associazione a delinquere e riciclaggio di denaro. L'indagine ha messo in luce la vastità del fenomeno della vendita online di certificazioni contraffatte che ha coinvolto migliaia di transazioni illecite.

A spokesperson – a 25-year-old without a medical degree – has been arrested in the Loire Atlantica region, who allegedly made nearly €1 million from the online sale of over 44,000 fake sick certificates. He was formally charged in Paris at the beginning of April and placed under judicial custody in the Fleury-Mérogis prison at the end of last month.

The investigation, according to Le Parisien, began at the start of last year when the public health section of the Paris prosecutor’s office received reports from several regional prosecutor’s offices all pointing to the same phenomenon: certificates of illness obtained through a website using the identity of a nonexistent doctor. The investigation, entrusted last month to the Cybercrime Unit of the Judicial Police, quickly allowed reconstruction of the fraud: for €21 per transaction, any internet user could obtain a valid certificate of illness, or at least appear to have one, in just a few clicks.

Details of the illegal activity and earnings

The suspect reportedly earned up to €49,000 per month from this illegal activity, with clients spread across the entire national territory. Identifying the 25-year-old was easy because “he had not taken any measures to effectively hide himself,” according to a source close to the investigation, who also stated that the suspect was reporting other fraudsters offering similar services in order to eliminate rivals from the market.

The formal charges and indictment

The young man confessed after his arrest and was formally charged in Paris on April 3rd for the abuse of the medical profession, fraud, forgery and the use of false documents, association for theft and money laundering. The investigation highlighted the scale of the phenomenon of the online sale of counterfeit certificates, which involved thousands of illicit transactions.
