Today as I look up to the sky I muse on John Flamsteed, who became King Charles IIs astronomical observator on this day in 1675 - which would have made him the first Astronomer Royal, if the title had been in existence.
I remember him for cataloguing three thousand stars, a work of love that took a lifetime, and also for discovering a new star, in 1690, which was later reclassified and renamed Uranus.
And as an Aquarian, Uranus is my planetary ruler
