My first #GSM phone was an Ericsson A2618s. It was quite sturdy. It fell out of my pocket once while playing basketball and landed on the concrete floor. Not a single scratch or a crack. It served me for years after that. I remember reading the news stream in SMS on this phone's screen for weeks after 9/11.

Mine was the Ericsson GA 628.
I got the extended battery which almost doubled the thickness of the phone but also doubled my standby time and talk time!

I still think back to those days fondly and wish I could look forwards to getting phonecalls again.
