Just got an alert that my phone is now part of Google's find my phone network. It uses Bluetooth to search for lost phones and would be on as part of using the find my phone feature.

This was like when Amazon decided to turn on wifi sharing by default with as little warning as possible, but at least that I could turn off without disabling Alexa. With this my only option appeared to be to disable find my phone entirely. So I did.

They made me disable a feature that protects my device because I don't want to compromise my security.

Решение за 5 минут. Рядом с кроватью приклеил, клей-пистолетом, конечно, zigbee кнопку, которая отправляет сообщение с повышенным приоритетом, и не затыкается, пока не будет прочтено. Даже беззвучный режим пробивает.

So, I've lost my #samsung phone (I just got it back), here's what I found: #remotewipe doesn't work! Somehow, even if the sim card was no longer registered to the networks, #findmyphone was able to track its location (with 15 minutes lag between updates), but those block and erase commands didn't work.

There have been many independent developers who've created apps designed to help users find lost phones or, at the very least, to wipe them remotely. Many of those apps required root access to work properly (and to avoid being removed through a malicious wipe), so they never became mainstream. While some of these apps still exist in one form or another, big smartphone manufacturers have developed their own tracking apps.

Samsung leads the Android pack with its Find My Mobile service providing a few handy options in case of a lost or stolen device. But how does Find My Mobile work, and how can it be activated? See how in the linked article below.

The first thing one should always do with any new phone, is to spend a few minutes fully configuring its find service. Also remember to test that you can actually find it through the web service, as sometimes that requires some initial configuration too.
