My computer #files need a cleanup.

But I have many files, this will take multiple sessions to do.

My hunch is that #emacs and #dired can help.

What I want is to go throught files, tagging them (say, this is reference material, this is media, etc.)
adding a marker adds a line in a "sorting files" script (information about the file, such as inode, whether it is a soft link, what its name, checksum and desired annotation are, etc.). After this I can (hopefully programmatically) move the files.

Oh wow, totally stumbled across this post. You can change how the iOS Files app opens images, to use Quick Look instead of Preview which was a major change in iOS 26. So much better now!

Question for #Fediverse experts: There's a new community I became a part of that communicates primarily through a #Signal group atm.

Pretty good (#Whatsapp is still the standard here) but they're not completely happy with it. One of the reasons I heard was that they'd like some way to organise #events, hold #polls, distribute #files and other info..

Is there a #Fedi #platform that offers these things? Or would something like #Nextcloud be a better option?
