I have spent the morning helping out at our beginners archery course again. Today was field archery so it was all new for the beginners all over again.

It was a beautiful morning with barely a cloud in the sky. Our field archery course is hard work just to walk around. We have steep slopes and trees that partially get in the way to make things more interesting / difficult. We regularly host the British Field Archery Championships as the terrain is as challenging as it gets. We didn't do the steepest or longest shots but it was still a challenge for the beginners. Everyone I was shooting with really enjoyed their morning and I think they learned a lot.

The best bit was letting Alice have a go with my smallest longbow. She has a big thing about longbows, I think she is an elf or something. She is only 8. She had a whale of a time.

So, I bought a thing... Then modified the thing for #FieldArchery from bowfishing... Then shot the thing... And won a gold thing!
I love it when a project comes together! 😄

Spent the day #volunteering at my #archery clubs #FieldArchery competition. Slogging up and down very steep hills. Carrying 55l water containers on my shoulder for about a kilometre. That sort of thing. I am the "strong guy" of the archery club and I love the hard work.

Tomorrow I am "caddy" for one of the archers in our club. He is in his 80s and has an above the knee prosthetic leg. He is determined to have a go at the course. I am going to be carrying his bow and quivery and trying to stop him falling over. It would be heartless to say he can't at least try.

Just finished slogging up and down 45 degrees plus slopes whilst volunteering for the British #FieldArchery Championship that my archery club is hosting. Only fell over twice today, a 50% improvement on yesterday. Currently having a well deserved soak in a nice hot bath.

It was my first correspondence archery tournament. 96 points out of 300 possible (scale -60 to 300; 5/4/3/-1/-1/-1 scores). 4x5 shots from 20, then 25 and then 30 meters. As you can see, I'm inconsistent as hell.

Yesterday I've participated in my second archery tournament. 2D Field Archery in Bemowo (Warsaw, Poland). At Traditional Hunter (Adult, Men) category, I've ended at 12th place of 14th. 137 points over 432 possible (24 targets, 3 arrows, 0-6 pts each).

Autumn, me and archery - in archery club. So far I've started 6th month in archery and I'm preparing for two amateur tournaments this month.

Second picture shows my results on 12.5 meters, third and fourth - on 25 meters.

Helped out at the Overton Black Arrows Watership Down Open field event yesterday. I think we had over 100 #archers competing. Two Olympians and Archers from all around the UK.

The weather held and apart from some target panic a good time was had by all.

I ate quite a lot of cake.

My wife persuaded me to get up early and go to Archery yesterday. It started fairly well, and even got a couple of golds. Then, on my last arrow, there was an explosion and pain in my face. Brought the line to a standstill. My peep sight had somehow sprung out of the string and hit me in the cheek. No serious damage, fortunately. Always wear safety glasses, because that could have been nasty!
