It's not something that was originally on my list, of course, but turns out I just really liked learning crochet cables!
This is the Fergus Shrug by Bonnie Barker, first of two I have planned, the second one will be a more oversized version but that has to wait til I can afford better yarn.
Very happy with this one in the meantime!

In honour of the day, then, presenting my two main crochet WIPs.
One of which, the green cabled shrug, you have seen a lot of lately. The other one is a cropped cardigan made from Sirdar Jewelspun and I'm honestly not sure if I love it or hate it so far, but the weather is cold enough to work on it a bit tonight so maybe we'll get closer to finding out 🤔

Early Monday morning update on the whole #crochet cables thing.
It continues well.
And as if by magic ✨
For those following the adventure, this is probably attempt eight or so and I finally figured out why my cables were so tragic.
Turns out, incorrect hook placement on one stitch in each big cable was having a knock-on effect to the following stitches AND the following row, and just making a disaster of everything. Fixed that one tiny thing, everything is now fine!
Crochet cables? Completed it mate.
✅ Step 2) Acquire yarn
Ideally would've gone with a cotton blend for this project, but you can't get that locally and I noped out after pricing it up online.
So instead we're back to Stylecraft Special, my beloved 💚
Now I just have to hold off on starting until Monday...
