I feel your pain. I've used *lots* of fediverse apps over nearly 20 years. Some were great, some awful, but none were perfect. I've found even the greatest app will have a heyday, then decline and need replacing.

Pinafore (succeeded by Enafore) was once my go-to, supplemented by FediLab on Android, which eventually become the go-to. Now I mostly use Moshidon on Android. On desktop, vanilla Masto; Elk and Phanpy are worse IMHO.

Looking for a Sharkey app? Try Aria.

Aria is an open-source client that supports most Sharkey features, including the BETA chat system. It’s also available on Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, and Linux, so you can use it on almost any device.

The app already works well feature-wise, though the visual design could use some improvements in the future. It also supports push notifications, which you can enable using a small code provided by your Sharkey instance. A tutorial for this may come later.

Enafore.social has been giving me a lot of trouble recently. Maybe it's not playing nice with LibreWolf and/or Fedora?

Can anyone recommend another instance, Pinafore fork, or web app I can try? Or a GNU/Linux app other than Tuba (which is OK but I find it a bit awkward to use).

Despite making some major progress on the codebase inherited from Pinafore (adding post editing), Enafore.social seems to have become really buggy recently. Are there any Pinafore forks still under active development?

My most frequently used fediverse app these days is @moshidon. FediLab is good for power users, but not quite as comfy to use. These are both on Android.

On my laptop I mainly use a web app, enafore.social. Occasionally Tuba, a native app for GNU/Linux, but it's a bit clunky so far.

TLDR Best-o-Masto is an alternative Mastodon client that does very little, but on purpose. When you open the app, it shows you the 20 most popular posts from accounts you follow in the last few hours. You can favorite those posts, boost them, or open them in a real Mastodon

Currently, the Mitra app on YunoHost (which I am using now that made me install this Mitra) isn't stable, just marked as a "decent" quality app rather than a "high" quality app on YunoHost. Although it's an achievement to be a decent quality, I need to tell you and the YunoHost team that the app config files usually indicate that it's a "development" branch, and I am having a problem where I can't log in to the Mitra Web UI after some time. So, feel free to test and give feedback on the Mitra app in YunoHost so that we can improve it together. Mitra does federate well with Threads and with each other; that's one of the reasons I use Mitra.
