Not doing a #FediOTRClub post this week. I would like to try and organize a special live listen event for Thursday instead.

Thursday is the 87th anniversary of the broadcast of the infamous "War of the Worlds" radio program with Orson Welles. I wanna try and organize a Fedi listening party where those interested can listen in together at the same time and post about it on Fedi.

If you've never actually heard the original broadcast before, it's absolutely worth it. It's definitely a "need to hear at least once in your life" recommendation for me.

A day late for the 2nd week of #ChillingDaysOfYesteryear and #FediOTRClub. Tried to get a good variety of stories this week. “Ghost Hunt” is perfect for spooky season, and “Leinengen vs the Ants” is a classic in the OTR fandom. We get our first epsiode of Inner Sanctum and finish with a good thriller story. Enjoy!

1) “Ghost Hunt” – Suspense, June 23, 1949
“A disc jockey spends the night in a haunted house...with surprising results.”

2) “Leinengen vs. The Ants” – Escape, August 4, 1949
“The classic story of the man-eating ants of the Amazon and the stubborn plantation owner who refuses to surrender to them.”

3) “Skeleton Bay” – Inner Sanctum, February 5, 1946
“A mystery writer witnesses a murder. The killer sees the witness, who surprisingly offers to help the killer dispose of the body! An interesting story with murders and corpses all over the place!”

4) “The Thirteenth Floor” – Murder at Midnight, August 30, 1946
“An escaped convict corners his ex-girlfriend who had turned him in. She's trapped on the thirteenth floor in a building in which it doesn't exist!”

good morning

gotta get week two of #FediOTRClub #ChillingDaysOfYesteryear curated and ready to post tonight since I wasn't able to get that done for last night

started working on that final Criminally Shy release. Want to keep working on that today.

Don't know if I'm gonna try to work on that one the Psych 59 remix today.

need to try and email a potential website building commission today. that would be a huge help.

My apologies,
The 2nd #FediOTRClub selections are going to be delayed until tomorrow. Haven't been able to get together the stories and links yet, been having a busy/crazy week.
Going to try and make it worth the delay.

Let’s give this a shot! October is the perfect month to try and launch the #FediOTRClub where each week I will curate two hours worth of Old Time Radio stories for Fedi to listen to. Feel free to comment in with the hashtag when you get to listen, hoping commentary will help me pick future weeks shows. For October specifically I’m starting with the theme of #ChillingDaysOfYesteryear with classic horror and thriller shows all month.

1) “Sorry Wrong Number” – Suspense, May 25, 1943 (Starring Agnes Moorehead)
“The first broadcast of this thriller classic. Probably the best remembered program of the series. A bed ridden disabled woman battles the frustrations of the telephone system after she overhears a plot to murder someone!”

2) “Three Skeleton Key” – Escape, March 17, 1950 (Starring Vincent Price)
“This classic takes place on a remote lighthouse where the three light keepers that inhabit it suddenly have to deal with a ghost ship carrying thousands of rats that crashes into their Island key.”

3) “The Midnight Horseman” – Macabre, December 11, 1961. (fairly obscure program produced by the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service – Far East Network)
“A good screamer. A painting of a black knight...with occult powers! (The announcer mentions that it's Halloween, indicating a possible rebroadcast at a later date.)”

4) “Return Trip” – Murder by Experts, September 19, 1949 (has also been dated September 5)
“The chilling story about an escaped homicidal maniac and a bus full of people trapped by an avalanche.”
