For #ThickTrunkTuesday here's the first of two photos, taken around #dawn on a June morning last year, featuring the #Cedar of Lebanon that stands like a sentinel watching over Horse Pond #lake at fabulous #Fawsley in #Northamptonshire.

Four from fabulous #Fawsley in #Northamptonshire, my local #OnePlaceStudy, back on February 2nd.

Clockwise from top left: A beautiful, bright abundance of #Aconites in St Mary's churchyard; the South side of Fawsley Hall; #Snowdrops with a visiting #Bee; and two trees - one small, and the other far away, as Father Ted might say...

#Valentine was a forename given to several of the #Knightley men of #Fawsley in #Northamptonshire. Here we see the monument (inside Fawsley St Mary's) to Sir Valentyne Knyghtley who died in 1566, and the gravestone (in the churchyard) of Charles Valentine Knightley who died in 1932.

For #ThickTrunkTuesday, a picture taken in the avenue of (mainly) Oak trees at #Fawsley (my local #OnePlaceStudy) early on Saturday morning.

I celebrated my birthday a day early yesterday when my brother Rob came over from Wales. We started early with a #dawn visit to #Fawsley, my local #OnePlaceStudy, where we sought out new angles for photos of this fabulous place on a #misty morning...

Sorry for not posting recently - I've been prioritising the multiple social media accounts I run for a certain Society over my own! Anyway, here is the stunning #sunrise I was lucky enough to capture on camera this morning at #Fawsley, my local #OnePlaceStudy. Have a fab Friday all!

Fawsley this morning, in prose and pictures, part 2 of 2.

Green Woodpeckers yaffle, Nuthatches trill. In the churchyard Ox-eye Daisies bloom still, as Elder berries ripen next to crimson hips of Rose, and Hawthorn haws. Nature knows that summer's ending, blending with the fall, as two seasons merge. Now the birds and squirrels cannot resist the urge to feast on Beech mast and other autumnal fare, while that bounty lasts.

Fawsley this morning, in prose and pictures, part 1 of 2.

A Raven cronks, Jackdaws chatter, a Heron emits a screech. House Martins and Swallows reach for the sky, swooping, looping, chasing insects as they fly. A Swan sails serenely by on the lake below, where earlier a Tern, with wingbeats alternately slow and fast, flew purposefully and then turned, with a swish, a dive, a splash, into the water to catch an unsuspecting fish.

Tracing the lives of #Fawsley Hall's servants for my local #OnePlaceStudy can be tricky, but fun. One who I have just researched, a daughter of a blind street musician in Northampton, was a servant for Lady Knightley at Fawsley, and later for an MP in Staffordshire, and the Director of Gillette, in London!

Back to #Fawsley, my local #OnePlaceStudy, after a few weeks without visiting. The birds were mostly quiet this evening, but I heard the calls of a Little Owl, and Green and Greater Spotted Woodpeckers. Towards dusk a noisy skein of Canada Geese flew over. Another brood of Swallows are well advanced in the church porch.
