The 2 year #jail sentence (usually 9 months to 1 year served inside) for this bad #driving at an unauthorised #CarMeet (which led to two young passengers being injured) might seem lenient but is in line with current sentencing policy - #driver pleaded guilty at Crown #Court (33-50% immediate sentence reduction), and the lass and her friend got into the car willingly.

TBH I think the driving ban, extra retest totalled #Audi #S3 and 11 years of high #insurance costs when he does go back on the road might serve as more of a lasting punishment than porridge, and hopefully is enough of a lesson that he doesn't repeat such behaviour..

@ronanmcd @vfrmedia My local #ReformUK #councils in #Northamptonshire have just deprived a #charity working for #Deaf people in the #county, that had existed for 150 years, of all #funding, resulting in its #closure, with loss of all staff #jobs & #services, regardless of all appeals, both from the charity itself & local deaf people. See: https://bylinetimes.com/2026/03/26/deaf-residents-in-reform-councils-say-they-have-been-shut-out-as-party-replaces-collapsed-deaf-charity-with-just-22000-in-funding/.

These two #Councils are my local ones, running my local #county, #Northamptonshire. I knew this sort of thing would happen if #voters here put #ReformUK in power, but it seems #Deaf people, & the #disabled in general, count for NOTHING, either with the voters, or the #Reform #politicians they've elected. These councils won't be coming up for re-election until May of 2029.

"Deafconnect operated in #Northamptonshire for over 150 years, & held the council contract for #Deaf #services covering both West & North Northamptonshire councils, both now run by #ReformUK. The organisation closed at the beginning of 2026 with no prior... announcement about funding difficulties, & all #staff lost their #jobs on closure. They had asked... for extra #support to survive but were refused. Council #funding had crashed from £140,000 to... £20,000 a year."

Richard Davis and Revival in #Northamptonshire – a review https://edintone.com/richard-davis-nonconformist-revival-northamptonshire/ Stephen Pickles’s book offers a valuable exploration of #nonconformist life beyond #London in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. The book traces his influence from #Rothwell across a network of satellite meetings that extended into several regions of England. His effective ministry, published writings, and theological controversies left a lasting—if sometimes complex—legacy.
Richard Davis: A Nonconformist's Revival in Northamptonshire

Stephen Pickles’s Richard Davis and Revival in Northamptonshire offers a valuable exploration of nonconformist life beyond London in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Focusing on the ministry of Richard Davis, the book traces his influence from Rothwell across a network of satellite meetings that extended into several regions of England. Drawing on both primary and secondary sources, it presents a balanced account of a figure whose effective ministry, published writings, and theological controversies left a lasting—if sometimes complex—legacy.
