For #ThickTrunkTuesday, the setting sun beaming through a gap between two Oak tree trunks beside the Knightley Way at Fawsley, #Northamptonshire, my local #OnePlaceStudy. In the distance, on the left, is Houseground Clump. Taken on Saturday evening.
On the last possible day to submit a response to the Ministry of Justice's consultation on proposals regarding the retention (actually, in most cases, destruction after digitisation) of post-1858 wills, I have emailed my contribution. I restrained my language as best I could, but the phrases “cringeworthy references," “unforgivable and short-sighted cultural vandalism,” “absurd and frankly elitist notion,” and “naïve proposal” do appear. 😠
An update on plans for further restoration of services by the British Library over the coming months, following last year's cyber-attack.

Please respond to this consultation (closes Friday night). If these 'ordinary people's' records are allowed to be destroyed, which set will be next?
"At present all of the wills and documents submitted in support of probate (legal authority to manage larger estates of deceased persons) are preserved indefinitely in the original paper form. These records date back to 1858.
This consultation paper proposes a reform that will enable older wills and documents to be converted to a digital form and then destroyed, with the wills of famous persons preserved. Views are sought on the proposals from interested parties."

Finally, FINALLY some sun for my daily walk, so specifically aimed for this corner of the Botanics to see what was happening and voila, a carpet of magic!
My photos of the delightful, friendly Waxwings at Brandon Marsh on Friday have gone down well, so here's another.
This portrait is entitled, "Wot are you lookin' at, mate?!?"
