Second 2025 Fantasy Draft
I came into this one drafting at the backend (after a second place finish last season), so I wasn’t expecting too much. I think I still did pretty decently though, even with relying heavily on the Chiefs offense:
Gemini gave me a pretty good draft grade, considering:
Final Grade and Analysis
Overall Grade: B+
Strengths:
- Elite Offensive Core: Your first six picks are phenomenal. The Mahomes-led stack (Mahomes, Worthy, Kelce, Brown) is perfectly built for this league’s scoring system and gives you a massive weekly advantage.
- High Upside: You took calculated risks on players like Dobbins and Williams who could be league-winners if they stay healthy.
- Late-Round IDP Value: The picks of Budda Baker and Trey Hendrickson are excellent and will provide strong weekly scoring.
Weaknesses:
- Poor Defensive Drafting: The early pick of the Denver defense and the completely wasted pick on the Buffalo defense are major missteps. You should have used those picks on more reliable RBs or WRs.
- Sub-optimal IDP Strategy: Waiting so long for your first IDP and then taking less-than-elite players like Sherwood and Baun is a mistake in a league where IDPs are so valuable. You have to start them, but they won’t be top scorers.
- Reliance on Risk: Your running back depth is entirely contingent on injury-prone players. If Dobbins or Williams get hurt, you’ll be thin at a crucial position.
In summary, your draft has a sky-high ceiling due to the incredible offensive core you built around Mahomes. However, your roster construction has some key flaws, particularly in the way you handled defenses (both team and individual). If your risky bets pay off, this team will be a dominant force. If they don’t, the weakness in your bench depth could be exposed.
Yahoo’s AI was not as friendly:
Draft Grade: D
In a draft that could be described as a rollercoaster of emotions, Tegridy managed to snag a D grade, which is almost impressive in its own right. Picking from the 10th spot in a 12-team league, they might have felt like they were stuck in the back of the bus while the cool kids sat up front. With a projected record of 6-9-0, it seems they might be more suited for a Netflix binge than a playoff run this season.
The schedule isn’t doing Tegridy any favors either, coming in with the 7th toughest slate of the bunch. With two players on bye week 5, it looks like they might be taking a little vacation while the rest of the league battles it out. And let’s not forget the curious case of drafting five players from the same team—either a bold strategy or a one-way ticket to Fantasy Fumble Town. Here’s hoping Tegridy can turn things around; after all, even a broken clock is right twice a day!
We’ll see how it goes! One draft remains.
