I am once again *begging* people to tag ship art! Just because your ship is wholesome and wildly liked, doesn't mean everyone wants to see it! And unless you have reskeets disabled, people outside your circle will eventually see it. Don't want to tag? Add it into ALT text. #FandomEtiquette

What's the etiquette behind quote reposting on #Mastodon? (like linking to someone's post directly and adding onto it, as it's not officially implemented. I saw a post recently by an unofficial news outlet for one of my fandoms, and it featured something funny that I wanted to add onto. But the joke I want to make directly contradicts the point of the joke the snippet made.

So if I do it directly underneath their post it might be seen as me clowning around in their circus. Plus, it would be less visible to others :P. As much as quote reposts are looked down on here, I think in this case it would actually be better to not make the joke chain under their post.

So what's the etiquette? Do I boost the original first? Do I like...announce under their post that I made a post inspired by their post?

I've got 13 points: 1. Only give concrit when the author is explicitly seeking it 2. Tag ships and characters. Even the most benign and "wholesome" ship can be someone's NOTP 3. Tag negativity appropriately so that it can be avoided (or found by fellow haters) #fandom #fandometiquette

If I boosted a piece of fanart posted for a ship week about a year ago, would it be cool, or would it be weird? Like, the ship week happened this exact time last year, which is why it was on my mind. (Artist hasn't been active on Mastodon for months, btw)

Let's normalize tagging art with ship names. It will help those who love it to find it easier and those who don't like it - to avoid it. #fandom #FandomEtiquette #shipping
