In #Islam, we speak of the 'fitrah' -- God's Truth, imprinted on each of our souls at their creation. This is what we have been taught to suppress--because #capitalism that stops evaluating performance at the organizational level (what #Kirkpatrick termed 'Level 4') rather than that of our shared society (what Kaufman defined as 'Level 5,' or "#Mega") demands ever-increasing economic output. If Return on Investment (#ROI) is god--and God is exiled--then the only way to KEEP improving is to keep increasing that numerator...forever!

To keep sacrificing our humanity--our Divine Purpose--for ITS purpose. Our akhirah for this dunya.

And that's a #FalseProfit.

You used to know what meaning felt like. The joy that needed no audience. The moment you lived without reaching for your phone. The work you offered without asking what it was worth. It lived in your chest. In your breath. In the quiet space between effort and identity. Then they handed you a script. Stamped with glossy mantras. Refined by marketers. Fed to you like purpose. “Build your brand.” “Crush your goals.” “Leave your legacy.” Each slogan a thread, pulling you further from yourself. Each promise a leash, disguised as freedom. You moved faster. Optimized harder. Measured your mornings. Shared your milestones. Shaped yourself into something you couldn’t recognize anymore. Not to be seen. To be sold. In a world where every heartbeat is measured by the sound of money hitting an account. You called it growth. They called it self-development. But underneath it all, it was self-extraction. They taught you how to win the game. They never told you who built the board. And when something inside you stirred when the old ache pressed against the noise you buried it. Under productivity hacks. Under algorithmic dopamine loops. Under labels like “laziness” and “lack of drive.” But the human inside you never stopped calling. You feel it in the moments you forget to rush. When a breath catches you off guard. When a sunset slips past your defenses. When you laugh—not for them, not for proof—just because something inside you said yes. That’s the part they couldn’t monetize. So they taught you to fear it. To hustle past it. To believe that stillness was failure. But you were never broken. You were shaped by a system that profits from your forgetting. You were made for connection. For presence. For joy without a price tag. You were built to build homes, not brands. To dance around fires, not refresh inboxes. To create because you are alive, whether it can be measured or not. This world trained you to adapt. To stay alive in a machine that confuses net worth with worthiness. To betray your own pulse in exchange for relevance. It’s time to remember. Remember what it feels like to spend a day without a plan. To laugh at a friend’s terrible joke without wondering if it makes a good post. To build something no one will ever “like.” To stop, and feel the weight of being human. You don’t owe this world your compliance. You owe it your aliveness. Now rise. | 13 comments on LinkedIn
