MathiasLe film qui a enchanté le festival de Cannes... Je suis pas convaincu du choix de ces mots et de cette phrase pour accrocher et vendre ce film qui est vraiment très beau et fort mais n'a rien d'enchanteur. Au contraire. C'est plutôt glaçant !
Dans les années 90, l'Irak subit une crise sanitaire et alimentaire. Malgré cela, le président Sadam Hussein tient à forcer son peuple à fêter son anniversaire et c'est pour cette occasion que la jeune Lamia, élève de CE2, est tirée au sort pour confectionner un gâteau.
Ce souhait d'anniversaire alors que le peuple irakien vit dans une misère et une pauvreté flagrante, créé un sentiment de sidération qui m'a laissé perturbé en sortant de ma séance. Surtout du fait que ce contexte a été réel.
La caméra alterne brillamment entre cette jeune enfant à la recherche des ingrédients pour faire son gâteau coûte que coûte, et sa grand-mère, à la recherche de sa petite-fille.
On pourrait trouver un semblant de magie "Disney" avec cette petite Lamia, toujours accompagnée de son coq qui semble vraiment communiquer avec elle. Mais la vitrine est très vite brisée au fur et à mesure des rencontres qu'elle va faire. Et je ne vous parlerai pas de la fin...
Donc non, je n'ai pas été enchanté mais c'est un film fort qui vaut le coup.
