I’ll be back soon Bali. 🥰🥰🥰🥰

This is an attempt to recreate my Year in Review. I’ll keep it simple: I will share one highlight from different dimensions of my life.

One thing I crafted: A Mt. Fuji Bookmark

In Catalonia, we have this beautiful tradition of gifting a book and a rose to someone you love for Sant Jordi. Not only do I give a book, but I also paint/build/assemble a bookmark to it—every year.

One place I loved: Yakushima

This was an overwhelming discovery 💚🪴 We spent 2,5 months traveling through Japan, and one of the most exciting places we visited was the remote island of Yakushima, south of the country. It was magical! Not only because it transports you to the magical world of Princess Mononoke (Miyazaki got inspired by the Shiratani Unsuikyo Moss Forest) but also because of the exotic beauty and virgin feeling the whole island brings. It is a truly hidden gem that I hope to visit again one day.

One book I read: Dawn of Wonder

I am genuinely late reading this one —everyone else in the sci-fi world already did— but I truly enjoyed it, and I can’t wait for Jonathan Renshaw to get better and keep writing this fantastic story.

One dish I loved: Kaiseki (Sendai)

Technically, it’s not a dish but a course of dishes, but it was CRAZY DELICIOUS 😍. I can’t begin to explain how fresh and tasty everything was, from the first to the last platter. This hidden izakaya restaurant only served local food, creating seasonal dishes, and the top of the cake was the outstanding selection of sake—another hidden gem.

One dish I utterly hated: 白子 shirako

This deserves its section because it was disgusting. While in Japan, I tried for the first (and last) time fish sperm. Yes, you heard right. Well, it turns out that Japan is considered a delicacy and a source of protein. So, of course, from all the weird things we could choose from, this had to be one. The literal translation from Japanese kanji is “white children.”

One moment to treasure: Camino de Santiago with my parents

For the first time, I finally did a stage of Camino de Santiago, and I could not have better company than my parents. We did a total of 120km in 6 days enjoyed of the beautiful Galician landscapes and its delicious Atlantic cuisine.

Happy New Year to everyone in the blogosphere! 🥂
